Hugo Roche has been a resident of the Conejo Valley for over four decades where he has been extensively involved in the civic, business and political life of Ventura County. He was one of the founding board members of Community Conscience Under One Roof in the early 80’s and served as President and member of the board of trustees for many years prior to becoming the Property Manager for the building. For the past 25 years he has been responsible for making sure the Human Services Center is maintained and that the tenants are happy.
He was honored by Community Conscience as 1999 Mardi Ball King for his service to the organization and the community. In 2010, he was selected as Don Triunfo by the The Conejo Valley Historical Society to acknowledge his many years of community service.
Roche has served as either president or board chair for Hospice of the Conejo, Los Robles Hospital and Medical Center, Rotary Club of Thousand Oaks and the Conejo Valley Chamber of Commerce, which selected him as Conejo Valley Man of the Year in 1986. He also is a Paul Harris Fellow with Rotary International.
In addition to volunteering at the J. Paul Getty Museum, Roche has served as a member on both the Ventura County Air Pollution Control District and the Ventura County Energy Task Force.
During his retirement he plans to do some traveling and to spend more time with his family. He was married for 54 years to his wife Eleanor, also a community leader, who passed in April 2013. They have 4 children, 15 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild, still living in the Thousand Oaks area.
He will be working with our new Executive Director, Robin Britt, as he transitions the building functions. We are pleased to announce that he has been appointed to the Community Conscience Advisory Council where he will continue to provide his guidance and support.
