Santa Claus Comes to Community Conscience

LSS Community Care Centers one of the organizations housed in the “Under One Roof” building played Santa Clause to over 120 needy families this past week.  Many generous families of Thousand Oaks signed up for the LSS Adopt- a- Family program and filled our conference room to the ceiling with boxes of gifts for children of all ages.  It is so heartwarming to see the smiles on the parent’s faces when they come to pick up their gift boxes full of goodies, presents that would not be under the tree without the help of the Adopt-a-Family program.

In addition to gifts LSS, distributes turkey coupons and gift cards from various grocery stores to those in need so they may enjoy a holiday dinner.  LSS also sponsors their annual Christmas Eve Dinner for low income and or homeless families. This year as in many years past the dinner is being held at Holy Trinity Church in Thousand Oaks, Dinner on Christmas Day is held at Thousand Oaks High School and is staffed by the volunteers from Temple Adat Elohim in Thousand Oaks.

Bus service is available on Dec. 25th to and from Thousand Oaks High School and meets in the parking lot of the Human Services Center at 80 E. Hillcrest Dr. Thousand Oaks.    For more information contact LSS at 805-497-6207.
